Zoom Is In The Room.

Zoom, who would have thought

I would be spending so much time not

talking to guests, peers, co-workers, family

face to face. Not hastily

trying to escape

from some videotape!

Yes, some are on tape!

And try facilitating a group of folks,

you will need lots of jokes!

Just kidding, it is fun for some,

but I am not one and I have come

to the conclusion that I am not the only one.

I have been online steadily since

the start of the pandemic, I wince!

I gave up on facilitating a zoom group,

they just weren't that kind of troup,

that could do that without supervision.

Television

is not easy to watch!

A successful group? Not! It was a botch!

I went back to a face-to-face situation and love it.

I go to staff meetings on zoom, no driving, I just sit

all morning, I catch a twelve-step meeting in the evening.

I watch events and other training and interests while cleaning.

There are others, like zoom and I have patience for some

like the ones when I hear from my boy and his baby girl from

White Bear! And chat with some others with my face on there!

Some have chosen not to participate and I accept that, as it is fair!

Still, others have no choice. And that may not be fair, but it can mean their job. Working part-time, zoom can be something I may choose to do or not. Many people will not attend twelve-step meetings on zoom. Some have the ability but still will not.

Others do not have the necessary equipment. No cell phone, no computer. They may have a flip phone, but most will not give you zoom. Some of us take technology for granted.

At 68, I am almost too old to keep up with all the new technology. I will do it though for as long as I can. Even if I need a grandchild or niece to hold my hand through the setup. I think zoom and Facebook live have been important to have during the worst of the pandemic.

It has already ended for many, as the masks are put away. More and more people are back to face-to-face meetings. A group I attend has decided to stay on zoom as they have members from other states that would like to stay connected. A group member that was once attending this meeting can now attend because of zoom.

Still, others have chosen to go back to face-to-face meetings only. And then there are hybrids, where you have a choice and both options are provided. You can also attend one way now and the other way at a later date and switch back and forth.

Now just enough time to finish the rhyme!

For today, I will stay on zoom.

Tomorrow I may not have room

in my life for zoom! I can't imagine

it will end any time soon.

Maybe when we send the next people to the moon.

I can only imagine what will be next I tell folks.

Alexa on my Eco device is telling me jokes.

This morning Alexa said, "Why did the fox cross the road?

For free chicken!" I'd rather a joke about being snowed!

Imagine my grandson, who would give me free eggs

due to being his grandma! Or a friend who may talk chicken legs.

Then someone I know would plead with me to stop and begs

to keep Alexa from telling jokes as most are just bad.

I need some extra humor in my life right now as I'm sad!
