I met my husband when I was 15 years old.

He was 21 and newly out of the service.

He was strong, handsome, older, and bold.

We were married when I was 17, and I was nervous.

🌸

He wanted children, but I wasn't ready yet.

Being the oldest sibling of 6, put me in that frame of mind.

I would tell friends that I felt like I already did that, and then bet,

it would be a while until I let children put me in a bind.

🌸

We partied hard, and he was okay with that.

When we had our first it was a great celebration!

She was adorable and I would watch her as I sat,

and wondered why it took me so long with all that adoration!

🌸

Our next little guy was born a few years later

such a handsome little guy, so loved, nothing greater.

The only problem was alcohol and drugs,

We couldn't end the party, and switch to hugs.

🌸

Some people can and he couldn't.

And even though we tried, it wouldn't

be in the cards for us, we found out and did cuss.

We would fuss, and all of the rest, plus!

🌸

Joy and sorrow was what became of us.
