Join us, do!
Rain sounds on hard ground.
Cherry blooms and falls at once.
We half-turn to home.

Petals float in tiny streams,
My thoughts in these moments stilled.
Heavy drops of rain
Slide from glossy leaf tips, bowed
Sound of East meets West
Rain sends my blossoming thoughts
Journeying onwards to home.
with trepidation
my heart and mind uneasy
as I look skywards
I Just Stepped In A Puddle
Socks And Feet Are Now Soaking
homeward bound and yet
a song inside my heart aches
linger in this land
Tender memories strewn o'er
silken soil, weep farewell tears
Wet shoulders fallen
Sloppy shoes untied but now
Rush to catch the train
Soak in streaking scenery
Tracks are just fallen ladders
In welcoming warmth,
smiles drip from cherry blossoms,
to hydrate my soul.
I carry this day with me,
Worn, shed, and ever within.

One pale petal clings
To my backpack. Pluck it, or
Let it be our guest?
A new companion welcomed
Fragrant beauty abounding
Petal placed between
Sheets of aged hard bound leather
Preserved for you, dear
as the downpour continues
the longing blossoms in me
Author's note -Renga is a collaborative progressive poem I only recently learnt about - I have written about this here, and I would love for you to join us! You just need to pick up where the last person left off, following an alternating format of 5,7,5 and then 7,7 syllable counts and linking your stanza to the last.

Rain sounds on hard ground. Cherry blooms and falls at once. We half-turn to home. Author's note: On our penultimate night in Japan, we stayed in a small house near Hakone. We arrived after dark, exhausted and hungry, but come the morning, I pulled open the paper shoji doors to find the small office space pictured above. I was called, as I am sure anyone here would have been, to take five minutes to write a little haiku. There I am, above, writing it.

Are we still continuing it...or...? I would do another bit...but no if you are thinking it has a conclusion - I'm a newbie to renga...so just checking lol! Love it though and as others have said...brilliant experience. Getting to collaborate in a very laidback fashion (saying that as someone who isn't too good about the idea of collabing!)
