Your Light

The darkness is suffocating

You were always the light to pull me out

Until your light dimmed in the distance

as you were walking away

You said no matter how difficult

you would never leave

But the darkness and trauma in my mind

made me push you away until you just could not take it

With you the darkness was not so dark

The light of your love was enough to pull me out

I would die for you to share that again

To forgive me from pushing so hard

Now that you are gone

The darkness takes me back

I thought about praying again

To ask God to make the darkness leave

But yet it stayed

and it took me with it

heartbreak
