Your First Affair
The hurt still destroys at my whole being

Your First Affair
I never thought I’d feel the sting,
Of broken trust, a shattered wing.
The love I thought was ours alone,
Now splintered in a space unknown.
You came to me with hands once warm,
Now cold with lies, no longer sworn.
The secrets whispered in the dark,
Left scars too deep to leave no mark.
I gave you all, my heart, my soul,
Yet watched you slip from love’s control.
Your eyes, once mine, now look away,
And all I have are words to say.
What did she offer you that I couldn’t be?
What part of me did you fail to see?
I gave you love, I gave you trust,
And in return, you turned to dust.
I wonder, as I pick up the pieces,
Was I ever enough, or just what pleases?
Your first affair, a cruel disguise,
A painful truth behind your lies.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️

Sad when it occurs
One must be careful in many kinds of relationships. Your poem shows it. Good work.
