Slow burn romance
Slow steps, uncertain conversations
Jokes, music and poetry
Games and web series
Long calls, light-hearted conversations
Laughter and comfort
It feels like I’ve always known you
You know by now
Without a doubt
That you’re my muse
So let me write more about you
More poems that I won’t send to you
The days unfold
They get a little bit better
A little brighter
My sadness fades slowly
I learn to let the light in
I learn to keep the light on
You appeared on my doorstep
Brought along optimism
I was hesitant
I didn’t know what to do
So, I did what I always do
I made tea
But you don’t like tea
I don’t know optimism well enough
We sit in silence
You, me and optimism
“What now?” I ask
Optimism looks at me and smiles
It shakes my hand
I look back, confused
It pours itself a cup of tea
Asks me why I never tried to befriend it
I have no answer
I didn’t think I had it in me
I didn’t know it was possible
Making friends has never been easy
And optimism seemed way out of my reach
You tell me that optimism isn’t arrogant
It isn’t unreachable
I smile and ask optimism
“Do you like tea?”
