You

Love at First Sip

By Sherraine EresmasPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

A normal day turned sideways,

A dull moment turned magnificent,

When my eyes met yours.

Lub dub, lub dub, lub...dub.

Pupils-dilating-goosebumps-raising

Palms-sweating, lips-parting you.

Your presence makes me mumble,

Makes me fumble. Is this a stroke?

No. It's worse. It's love.

Poets, songwriters, painters,

They weren't wrong.

My heavens, they weren't wrong.

This feeling is indescribable, unbelievable!

And yet, it's as ancient as time itself.

You're grabbing your coffee,

Moving purposefully towards the door.

"Wait!" my heart shrieks.

I can feel the unspeakable loss already,

A portion of my soul being ripped away.

Where'd all the air go? I gasp.

I feel myself scrambling to my feet,

My body moving of its own accord.

Time stops. I reach for you...

And then you turn back...

And smile.
