You Colored My World

Seasons End

By Ramona ScottPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Just one last look before turning

Toward the sun, leaving behind

My world, for which I'm yearning.

Oh Death you are so unkind.

Once again I wish to feel mortal

Senses: touch, sight, sound, and taste

Forever gone, as through this cosmic portal

I pass, and my new world I embrace.

Lush green Spring days, ne'er I'll see again,

No watching the first blooms appear.

No more scent of lavender and roses in

The air: Oh how I loved that time of year.

Blazing red-hot summer days were spent

Splashing about in oceans blue;

Licking chocolate ice cream cones,

Walking white, sandy beaches with you.

The autumn leaves, gold and red,

Dancing a tango above our heads,

Then softly falling to the ground

To fuel the bonfires glowing all around.

Then came winter, white and cold.

You kept me warm, wrapped in your soul.

Our passions burned, igniting a flame

That no longer will I be able to claim.

For the Pale Rider, with his ashen grim face

Atop his ghostly nightmarish steed

Claims another soul from this earthly place

From her mortal coil, he has freed.

Quick, press your face against the window pane

So I may once more see your eyes of blue,

And kiss the imprint of your lips

Before all memory of me fades from you.
