I Will Always Be The Color of My Skin
Until the hate goes away
By Ramona ScottPublished 5 years ago • 1 min read

ceremonial dress
Color runs through my veins
deep red, then blue
Color shows in the mirror
Sepia or caramel will do
Color shows in my brush
Reddish brown you would say
Color hangs in my closet
But you won't find any gray
Color kisses my lips
Mahogany red is my choice
Color manifests in sound
For there's honey in my voice
Color adorns my body
Yet cripples my soul
It's the color of my skin
Of which I am told
Will never be worth
My weight in gold
As long as hate
Rules this world
To them I'll always be
That nappy headed black girl!
