At 3am sleep eludes you, you toss and turn futilely, yearning for and wondering why your healing rest evades and avoids.

Be encouraged and of good cheer. Try these three gentle yoga poses to fall back to sleep in the middle of the night, and help you drift back off to restful slumber.

Could it be that you woke up feeling alert, rested and ready to start the day at 3.30AM? If so, you’re in luck. Here are three poses to help even the worst sleepers fall back to sleep when they wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in the middle of the night.

Do these possible reasons contribute to your sleep eluded cycle. (a) Stress or anxiety. (b) Poor sleep hygiene, (c) staring at your phone before sleep, (d) irregular schedule, (e) eating too late, (f) lack of exercise, (g) drinking too much caffeine, (h) sleep apnea, (i) low blood pressure, (j) chronic pain or depression.

Eureka! Then be encouraged, help is here, enjoy these three yoga poses to help you sleep at night

Follow the advice of Jesse Galber, founder of YOGI TIMES, sharing the three best yoga poses to help you drift back to sleep — and they can all be performed from your bed (though it’s better to get the yoga mat out if you’re really struggling). She says.

Get comfy, remember, this isn’t a workout, so don’t try to push yourself or your flexibility, and make a conscious effort to focus on your breathing.

Happy baby pose

Ananda Balasana

This will help to release tension in your hips and stretch the lower back and hips, which is where tension accumulates during the day. Rethink your early morning coffee with yoga instead. Breathing deeply in this playful pose for a few minutes can calm your mind, lighten your mood, and prepare your body for sleep.

Instead: Start by lying on your back and bringing your knees toward your chest.

Journeying on, grab the outside edges of your feet with your hands, opening your knees wider than your torso.

Keeping steady and flexible:

Loosely and gently rock from side to side, massaging your spine on the floor.

Melting into: Child’s pose:

Balasana

This move is especially great if you’re feeling anxious

Now Child’s pose is a calming yoga pose that will gently stretch your back, hips, thighs, and ankles, encourages a sense of safety and comfort, which will especially benefit those who wake up feeling anxious or unsettled. Breathe deeply during this time to make the pose even more effective.

On now to kneeling on the floor and sitting back on your heels

Painlessly spread your knees as wide as your hips, then fold forward to lay your torso between your thighs.

Quietly, extend your arms forward or alongside your body, with your forehead resting on the floor.

Relax into the final Corpse pose:

Savasana

SAVASANA allows your body to surrender to gravity, releasing physical tension and clearing the mind of stress. Even a few minutes in Savasana can significantly relax your nervous system, making it easier to fall asleep.

Titillate the pose to work for you:

Unafraid, lie flat on your back with your legs spread slightly apart.

Vacant mind. Keep your arms relaxed at your sides with your palms facing up.

Weightless, calm, close your eyes and focus on deep, slow breathing.

Xylem waters soon shall replenish and rejuvenate

Yielding to a state of Zen

Zombifying nothingness soothes your mind!

Chile you rocked this! I love all these awesome poses. I must try them! Your informative articles really are the bee's knees! Well done kind friend!!

  • Excellent poem & article. I find it interesting that I tend to do Savasana when trying to go to sleep. Unfortunately, I rarely fall asleep lying on my back, though it does help prepare me for falling asleep on my side.

Right now, this is not what I need. Right now I need poses for if you have a meeting in ten minutes and its the middle of the work day and your whole body is just for bed.

  • This was great, and very useful! I'm often wake up and try to go back to sleep. Xenial! good X word you found, greek has a lot of X words. Xenophobia didn't seem poetic, I like Xenial.
