Yet Another #NationalGolfLoversDay Limerick

Golf is a challenging sport...but it is fun especially when you play with the Dr. Stein Rule

I have adopted a more relaxed attitude towards golf. I used to compete with my buddies and try to shoot low scores...and struggle when I wasn't playing well. But now I play using the Dr. Stein Rule.

Dr. Stein was taking up the game and, as a beginner, he had an interesting perspective on the best way to not get discouraged which is easy to do when you are just starting out. After hitting a bad shot into a terrible spot next to heavy bushes, he picked up the ball and tossed it into the middle of the fairway. I asked him what he was doing. He pulled his green fees ticket out of his pocket and said, "I PAID FOR THE FAIRWAY." Hard to argue with his logic and now when I go out to play by myself, I play by the Dr. Stein Rule.

I have neuropathy from a side effect of immunotherapy and I'm just happy to be able to go to the golf course and try to hit a few good shots.

Golf can frustrate and it can confound.

So here’s how I measure a round –

By the number of jokes

Not the number of strokes…

The way I play, lots of both will abound!
