Wrong Choices in life

If only we could go back and change

Wrong Choices in life

I look behind at wasted years,

the roads I walked with blinded eyes.

I see the choices hard and wrong,

the moments lost that slipped away.

I long to touch the days before,

when laughter lit the simple hours,

when love was pure and hearts were true,

when time still felt like it was mine.

If only I could turn again,

step back into that brighter place.

I would not stumble as I did,

I would not trade my dreams for dust.

I ask for just one open door,

a chance to walk the path once more,

to move ahead with steady hands,

and live the life I should have lived.

Yet deep inside I know life is not that way.

Bad choice, past mistake, are here to stay.

The choices made today are locked in for life,

each on cutting hearts like a knife.
