Writing Stories on a Sunny Afternoon

It doesn’t get much better

By Calvin LondonPublished about a year ago 1 min read
My two little girls Ella and Gi Gi lapping up the sun_ Author’s own image (2024)

The sunlight streams into my room,

Warming my home and heart.

My little doggies are flat out on their sides,

Snoozing, dreaming, lapping up the sun.

I’m at my desk, tapping out the words,

Writing stories on a sunny afternoon.

Characters formed in bright costumes,

metaphorically dance and play.

The warmth of the sun inside their hearts,

Each one is primed to have their say.

It’s a positive space, a peaceful life,

Writing stories on a sunny afternoon.

My little girls make snoring tunes,

Sleeping deeply on the floor,

Warmed by the sunlight rays.

I am in a good space, safe and serene,

Writing stories on a sunny afternoon.

A darker day may come around soon,

That’s when my villains will come to life.

But I park those thoughts to reconvene,

For today’s thoughts are light and bright,

Writing stories on a sunny afternoon.

Till next time, thanks for reading
