I met me beneath a tree.
Healing like roots; unseen.
This morning I woke up,
And I did just simply that.
The sun was bright, the air was warm,
So I put on my hat.
-
I walked out to the garden,
And I sat beneath my tree.
The birds all sang, the wind, it rang,
The grass soft under me.
-
The world seemed somehow brighter,
Almost as it was new.
"Is something missing?"
"Is something different?"
My thoughts and questions grew.
-
I looked up to the sky.
The clouds, they were the same.
"Is someone else here with me?"
"She seems nice... What's her name?"
-
As the bees hummed past me,
They hummed a quiet word.
I thought they may have answered me,
But I hadn’t clearly heard.
-
Perhaps no one else was with me.
Yet still, I felt confused.
The leaves seemed to be dancing,
They looked lighter, unbruised.
-
I turned then to the breeze to ask,
As it brushed upon skin.
"What has changed today?"
It whispered,
“It's coming from within.”
-
I realised in that moment,
As I sat under my tree.
Nothing had changed,
The sun still the same.
The difference?
It was me.

Great poem this is so lovely! ♥️
I love the way you made a beautiful day into a life-changing moment!
Omgggg, this was sooo beautifully written. It felt so blissful. And I loved the way you made it rhyme!
Nature is so healing-nicely done
Soft and calming, with a quiet sense of realization that feels very human and gentle.
Healing, not loud or obnoxious, but quiet, slow and sometimes before you have even recognised it. Expressed through storytelling I really enjoyed this. Very well written.
