You sense, but cannot know me
I’m the vapor in your breath
I’m a mist that clouds your thinking
I’m a virile living death
I’m a nomad of the ether
I’m the scourge of self-esteem
I seek and find my lodging
In a land beyond the dream.
You live the lie of outer love
For all the world to see.
When your friendships die of selfishness
Your only friend is me
And comforted within this cage
Of hardened falsity
I feed your lie full knowing
Only truth can set you free.
I nest within your fearful heart
You cloak me with your hate.
I wait for you to wait to love
And laugh when it’s too late.
Your nightmares are my lifeblood
And they softly speak my name.
You embrace me, yet deny me
As you hide me in your shame.
When you lose your life and love
And only i remain
I’ll bask within your darkened heart
And revel in your pain.
I’ll drink your sweetly hopeless thoughts
Plant sweetly hopeless seed
And with cruel, malicious pleasure
I’ll supply the pain you need.
Until that day I’ll wait
For you to make my power whole.
I’ll feed your eagerness for me
Let darkness take its toll.
I wait now in your emptiness
A hollow in your hole.
I’m the shadow in your darkness
I’m the blight upon your soul.
You sense, but cannot know me.
You may seek to all in vain.
I’m a wraith of no dimensions
I’m the hurt behind the pain.
I’m the friend of all the friendless.
I’m the anguish in their scream.
I seek and find my lodging
In a land beyond the dream.
