Words comfort. Words heal.

Finding beauty in the written word.

Is there anything more beautiful than the written word?

Like early morn's minted dew

Dripping off the vestal, flawless fronds of grass

It's newness caressing and welcoming the dawn

So too do my senses savor and relish the flavor

Of each new vocable locution of a written word~

I see rainbows, thunderstorms, and lightning in words

Words that heal, words that hurt and angst within words~

Words are powerful within the order of our existence

I see the universe as it was meant to be

I see order, chaos, war, peace, joy and love in words~

Words transport the imagination beyond boundaries

Beyond worlds to destinations yet undiscovered

Words connect the human psyche within their sounds

Hello! I love you! How are you! Goodbye! Adieu! I do!

Do you not see all the colors in the words we speak

In the words yet begging to be tasted, defined and uttered~

I relish them, inhale, exhale and devour them everyday

Kind words are the best of the wonderous lot

They can transport a sorrowful downcast heart

To heights of joyous effervescence and enlightenment~

So, yes. My comfort lies intertwined within my words

The words I speak, or write, to comfort another soul

The books and stories I read, while wrapped in eiderdown

That relaxed evening, alone by a warm fire

The wind and rain raging, knocking on my window

Trying desperately to come and sit with me a while~

The words of the stories I read, while picturing the writers

Their struggles, their loves, their reasons for choosing

To pour their hearts out so we can share a tiny bit

Of their losses, their gains, their sacrifices, and their joy~

It matters not the language, the idiom, the turn of phrase

Or fixed expression.

Like water to my thirst, are words to my soul~

I dare not be without one or the other.

They are my ultimate life's comfort~
