Word Vomit

Where are my words?

Where are my words?

I had them yesterday

Loud, proud, determined

Bent on the cause when the world was watching

Screaming in the wind

Where did my words go?

Yesterday they flowed freely

Today I’m choking on them

Gagging on the seeds of my own thoughts

As they lodge in the back of my throat

Like a bone

I hack

I gag and wheeze

But nothing moves

Words wedged so tight, I can’t breathe

Gasping for air

Prone on the floor

My oxygen starved skin now cyanotic

Too weak to utter a cry for help

But even if I could, would they listen?

Don't they want to hear my words

When the world is no longer paying attention?

Don't they want to know my inconvenient truth?

I fear they don’t

I know they don't

I know they’d ram my own words even further down my throat

I fear they'd watch me die

Then tell the world I choked on my own vomit.

    Wow that was great❤️

  • I think this was a nice spin on the challenge. Words pack so much power in them and take so little work to create. The poem, I think, illustrated that very well! Great job!
