Word I shouldn’t say

This world is going to hell,

Perhaps it’s already there.

And I don’t mean some mythical place,

That’s not the reality we face.

My thoughts are scrambled like eggs in a pan,

As I struggle to voice my frustrations at hand.

I want to yell at all the people,

Who gave an idiot such power.

At the ones building culture based on hate,

And saying it’s from a book of fate.

I want to rewrite the education system,

And teach people outside of this pattern.

Show them how to foster happiness

Not god or an almighty dollar.

Show the sides of history,

Instead of the winners gambit.

Or how to be successful…..

so long as you have millions.

I want to yell at them,

To wake the hell up.

Don’t you see how this is hurting you?

That they don’t actually care for us.

Because society is built as a pyramid,

With so few on top.

With less in the middle,

Then you have thought.

For most of us are but specks of sand,

In the bottom and in the ground.

Thinking we’re all apart of something bigger,

As our life is decided by one old fibber.

I love the pyramid reference in your poem, Lane. This is quite clever!
