With A Little Luck

Skyward Streams

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Punching at shadows

Playing the games

Looking for loopholes

When it all looks the same

*

Milky cottage cheese

Poured over my fruit loops

The consistency’s changed

Though I’m still jumping through hoops

*

I'm still a contender

Running the race

Like a novice bartender

That can't keep the pace

*

I try and I try, I'm a pretender

Trying to save face

An open wound mender

With really bad taste

*

I've got a sudden taste for

A little take it or leave it

Promises are made

But no-one really means it

*

I've been stuck in the shade

And I hate to admit

I kinda like it this way

Though I never say quit

*

Got to think on my feet

Dig in deep, use my wit

Create a new me

Who won't stand for this shit

*

With just a little luck

I'm heading straight for the sky

Look at me, I'm moonstruck

And all it took was to try

A very uplifting piece., Kelli, and well writ, as always! "Milky cottage cheese/ Poured over my fruit loops" may be the most unsetting image I've ever read.
