Wishing Well

There is nothing worth looking for within the walls of this wishing well...

Within the walls of a heart that has already withdrawn,

hidden within a vessel that is withering away,

is a wish for a wishing well, to wish to bring an end to time itself‐

A wish, wished by a man who has given up, without actually having given up...

repeatedly waking into a nightmare, and sleeping into what is horrendously worse‐

Waiting for every day to end from the moment it begins,

hopelessly and helplessly watching these weeks walk right on by,

trapped and left bereft within these walls of war...

is a dead man walking...

through the wages of a forsaken world‐

Looking for some sort of peace, wondering why he hasn't truly given up...

wanting with all that is within him

nothing, but some form of relief from the warfare this world continues to offer him...

while at the same time, wanting to feel absolutely nothing...

and with the same mind, wishing that time would just come to an end,

wishing there was a wishing well, to wish for the end of this hell.

Unfortunately, the wants thrown into the waters of such a pit,

are as in vain as the prayers written out in regards to this battle that apparently has already been won...

and as fruitless as every willing attempt made to escape this cruel reality‐

but still, his wistful soul continues to cast its lots,

wishing that there not come a day in which it is presented with the option to sell itself‐

for he knows what form of escape his wandering eyes are looking for...

but he knows all too well that there is truly nothing held within any kind of wishing well.

About the Creator

Josh Morgan

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
