Winter woes
cold frozen toes
and fingers
the frost lingers
Coughing for dear life
annoying your wife
with your snoring
Tv is boring
while sat in with a cold.
I wish snow wouldn’t grind the country to a halt
train drivers strikes
hikes through the town just to do Christmas shopping
the rush of Christmas isn’t stopping
even if we are ill.
Over spending and getting in debt
Rudolph needs the vet
the cat attacks the Christmas tree
and it falls
all this work for one so called special day it’s soon over
I wish sometimes we didn’t have to bother
sometimes it’s worth it
sometimes it’s not
I wish when writing my Christmas cards didn’t have ink blots
I hope I don’t end up too stressed with spots.
The turkeys over done and the roast potatoes are hard as nails
And the sprouts are finding their way out
the other end
with much hilarity
I wish carol singers would sing with more clarity,
and food wasn’t so expensive
I grow pensive,
thinking of winters past
when old friends were still here
and we miss our grans and all the old dears.
Winter woes I suppose
there will be better ones
when rain doesn’t come down in tons
or sleet and TV doesn’t show too many repeats.

Nice one buddy!! It can be a bit exhausting right! I liked this line particularly “I wish carol singers would sing with more clarity”. Bahaha. 😆
Really well done and entertaining! I enjoyed your poem. Happy to subscribe to your work.
