Will You Stand Up?
Can We Count on You?
When the dark days increase,
And the light is obscured by vicious vitriol and lies-
Will YOU stand up?
When those with darker skin are slandered
And viewed as less than-
Will YOU stand up?
When women are viewed as a husband’s property,
And they have less rights to their own bodies than their mothers had-
Will YOU stand up?
When LOVE is legal for some,
And for others it becomes against the law-
Will YOU stand up?
When people who want to live the gender they are deep down,
And those people become outlaws-
Will YOU stand up?
When the elderly have to choose between medicine and food,
And they lose support from a nation they created,
Will YOU stand up?
When the upper few get richer while breaking the back of the working,
And those very workers can’t make ends meet-
Will YOU stand up?
You, as a human being, are connected to a diverse brotherhood and sisterhood.
Love is love, hate is hate. We all need you.
Will YOU stand up?
Can we count on you?

Great questions, and I have to admit, I'm disgusted that they even have to be asked. But these are the times we are in. And the answer is yes!
Yes
Thank you for writing this one, J. Important questions, especially during these times. Ones I wish we didn't have to ask.

I love this so much. I hope that we are able to depend on the people in our lives. At least on them.
