a credit card at the tank

so you’re not stranded alone

a passport and a ticket to enter the plane

if you’re traveling by bus, uber, taxi or train

so many forms of ID, it’s easy to get lost

so many ways to define me

we don’t realize the cost

someone steals your identity

while you’re shopping online

so many ways to be copied

it should be a crime

oh wait, it is,

and here’s the maddening part

in life’s hustling biz

proving I’m me, has become incredibly hard

from proof of address

and birth certificate

it’s simply a mess

I mean, f’get about it, oh my

next thing they’ll want is my DNA

but with my luck, I’ll be linked to a crime

and they’ll lock ME away

I want to go back to that bar on the corner

when they yelled out my name and remembered my order

oh wait, that was Norm, on the sitcom of cheers

I guess I’ve forgotten who I am, after all of these years
