i have always wanted
to ask the universe
why it has cursed me
so that every month
i bleed
on an altar
of blood
so that my insides
are hollow
and other people
can fill it with their
sweet little lies.
i have always wanted to know
why i cannot be whole
on my own
because i have been
ripped to shreds
by my desires
as my veins drained
and my body
went cold.
i want to give, too
but i always need.
i have been bestowed strength
but not in the form
of a sword
i am both powerless and
powerful
all at the same time.
some call me a woman
but really i’m just
a little girl.
