Why Do Fools Never Learn
Do they simply not want to know

Why Do Fools Never Learn
I watched the warning signs line up in red,
they waved like hands that wanted me to stop.
I told myself that love knew better plans,
experience was pushed aside with hope.
The past knocked gently first, then harder still,
it brought receipts I chose not to review.
Each lesson stood and waited to be heard,
I turned away and called it bravery.
Fools trust the moment more than history,
they crown desire and silence common sense.
The heart speaks loud and drowns the quieter truths,
logic leaves the room without a fight.
I stepped again into familiar fire,
convinced this time the flame would see my face.
Pain felt surprised to see me once again,
it knew my name and greeted me like kin.
People say wisdom comes with passing time,
time offered chances I refused to take.
The mirror held the answer in plain sight,
I looked away and blamed the world instead.
Regret grows strong when patterns settle in,
it feeds on moments where I should have stopped.
Each scar repeats a story I ignore,
each ending feels like something unforeseen.
Learning demands a courage I delayed,
the strength to walk away before the fall.
Fools stay and hope the rules will bend for them,
reality has never played along.
One day the lesson lands without escape,
it sits beside me calm and fully formed.
I listen now with nowhere left to run,
and finally hear what I denied so long.
