White Flag and a Chip Bag

There's a time of day I cherish

as the sun begins to set.

When I've put away the dishes,

but not quite bedtime yet.

I grab my favorite blanket.

And head out to the place

where I snuggle on the sofa

and begin to stuff my face.

I wrap my blanket really tight

so no body parts can breach.

And I scatter my necessities

all within arm's reach.

With remote control and crackers

and my cheese right from the can,

I mold into the sofa

This, my cozy nightly plan.

Should I "veg" and just sit quiet

or maybe read a book?

Let's see what's on the telly

Flip through channels, take a look.

Searching for a movie

that doesn't need a plot

just a passionate couple

and kissing.... A Lot.

I do not have to worry

what happened back at work,

or my projects left unfinished

and my boss, the big fat jerk.

I set my phone to "silent"

but check it one last time.

It's lit up with a message

from that daughter of mine.

"Good night Mamma." " I love you."

followed by three hearts.

I respond as My Bitmoji

wearing jammies and a cap

Who says "Sleep tight" while yawning

And I type "I love you" back.
