White Cat of the shore

wisdom embodied in a cat

By Mohamed SakhiriPublished 10 months ago 1 min read
"The White Cat", by Pierre Bonnard, 1894

I was out when I saw a cat

Anger on its face, grumpy and sincere

White cloaked with dust, turned black

A pale body of furr and fat

I approached with love and care

It gave some of it, back

With an affectionate needful stare

Eyes of warmth suppressed by fear

I realized it wasn't angry

It's I the unwise brat

Who wore a judgy smear
