brutally defeated

by a deceitful woman

L'Homme blessé (The Wounded Man), by Gustave Curbet, 1844

You kept coming at me with excuses

You even complained

Yet you were a player

And I was prey

But now I'm gone

Away, with the rain

I'm no longer confused

No longer in pain

For I carry your lesson

Here within me
