White Ambulance

A poem

By Elle McPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

They weave through the crowded lanes

Not caring about what traffic stands in their way

But at their destination they discriminate

They take only those who can afford to pay

Not caring that the reason they can’t afford it,

Is why they’re there in the first place

We know the policing system discriminates

But what about the white ambulance?

Its sirens are red and blue too

These colours – ALL American

But they do not serve ALL Americans

The white ambulance serves the wealthy

The white ambulance makes people healthy

But are these not one in the same?

When wealth equals health

When longevity is a commodity

What is the white ambulances job then?

Is it to further the lives of the rich?

And to ensure the poor stay poor?

With less life how can they thrive?

How can they be ALL American?

For they are ALL Americans

The white ambulance does not see that though

The white ambulance shuts its doors

The white ambulance

The green ambulance
