Fabrics of the mind

A poem

By Elle McPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I don’t see pink or blue

I see purple

I see intermeshing hues pulsing together and then falling apart

The more unique the person the brighter their colors shine

Blinding in their individuality

So eye catching you can’t look away

Through every lens a different pigment is revealed

What we see is up to us

Hate and denial hold colors too,

These are stilted shades of white, grey and black,

Mundane and ugly

Left in the dark

Dull and utterly unprofound

They serve no purpose, only pain

These are the colours displayed along the beaten path

When you blindly follow those before

When you stray however,

When you truly open your eyes,

The colours are golden and glorious

The rewards of originality

Love and acceptance those are the beautiful, eye catching hues,

Infectious in their warmth

Welcoming to all, to every color, shade and tone

Bold and beautiful

Magnificent in their luminescence

Growing with every gentle touch

A buttered lilac, a hazy blue

Separate entities, colliding into one,

Mesmerising together, mesmerising apart

An array of identity, vibrant and transfixing

With color comes life, and with life comes color
