Whispering Darkness.

A Chilling Poem on the Haunted Well of Death

By Quincy.VPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

In the heart of the woods, so dark and deep

Lies a well, where horrors always creep

A place of darkness, where no light can shine

Where fear and death, forever intertwine

The well of death, its waters black

A place where souls, forever lack

The peace they seek, in the afterlife

For in its depths, they're trapped in strife

The whispers from the well, they call

Tempting all who hear its thrall

A siren's song, so full of dread

Drawing you near, to join the dead

The well, it thirsts, for life and blood

Its victims, they sink, with a sickening thud

Their screams, they echo, through the night

A chilling sound, that chills with fright

The darkness, it swallows, all who dare

To venture close, to this cursed lair

For in its depths, lies only death

And those who enter, will draw their last breath

So heed my warning, and stay away

From the well of death, where horrors play

For in its waters, lies only pain

And to enter, is to join the slain.

This is a haunting and eerie poem that vividly captures the fear and dread associated with a cursed well deep in the woods. The imagery is powerful, and the description of the well as a place where horrors always creep and no light can shine is particularly effective. The repetition of the theme of death and the afterlife adds to the ominous tone of the poem, as does the use of onomatopoeia to convey the chilling sounds of the victims' screams. The poem's structure also adds to its impact. The rhyming scheme and consistent rhythm create a sense of foreboding that builds as the poem progresses, culminating in the final warning to stay away from the well of death. Overall, this is a well-crafted and evocative piece that effectively conveys its eerie subject matter. Well done!
