While You Are Asleep

The velvet blanket embraces us,

The mental clutter of the day is pushed out as we both fall into the abyss of sleep.

I hear you breathe in deep and out as dreams dance within your brain,

At peace you seem to be,

My heart swells in my chest full of emotion for my true love lays near me.

I feel a smile inch across my face,

The grim of the day is shaken from my brain,

The only thought in my head is all the love I have for you.

I dwell on all we have been though,

The memories flood every pore of my being.

You are the other half that completes me,

I know you were made for me,

I know I am the other half of you.

These are things I think about

These are thoughts that linger at night while you are close to me.

While you are in dreamland,

While you are asleep.
