where the sky remembers us

joshua tree desert

"desert skies" - by sara little

We once stood among Joshua’s crooked arms,

stone and silence holding witness

to the question you asked,

the one that stitched our lives together.

Now, love, we are returning—

to that same wide desert hush,

where the earth remembers us,

and the sky spills its secrets in fire.

The Perseids will fall like blessings,

like vows written new in sparks and ash,

and I want you there beside me,

your hand the compass, your gaze the horizon.

Pack only your wonder.

I’ve packed the rest—

a night beneath stars that refuse to be counted,

a memory reborn where you first said yes.
