Where did you go

Grief

By Vicki LucasPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

People think of grief

Down, angry and sad

But we lost so much more that day

Than you, our dearest Dad

We lost the light that shows the way

Confidant, teacher, friend

We lost the anytime advice

Our very bestest friend

But that’s not all, there’s something else

You took it when you went

By mistake I’m sure of it

With it, We weren’t spent

Our spark you see, We need it

I think it went with you

The hope for a brighter tomorrow

You know, the bit that gets us through

The bit that keeps us fighting

That next, “this is THE idea”

The thing that makes us not give up

The hope success is near

I’m sorry if you need it

But we kinda want it back

You see, we looked over our future plans

And it seems they’ve all gone black

The dreams, the hope, the future bits

You know, dreams of owning land

A strong successful business

And all those other plans

Without spark it all seems hopeless

Will never come to call

We are gilding other peoples lives

Can’t be bothered with it all

So if you’ve time, if you can

If you surely would

Please come back and re insert it

That really would be good

You put it there to start with

The spark, the fire from within

To never stop believing

That one day we’d really win

Anyway.. Dad we miss you

We can’t believe that you’re not here

And although we try and carry on

We’re a bloody mess down here
