Where Did Our Time Go To?

we almost had our time On this mortal planet

No Lifetime Ahead. Where did time go

Yesterday being old was a lifetime away.

Now today there is no lifetime a head,

just fear of death, along side memories of us two

We don’t mark days they slip past the sink,

and settle in corners with things left unsaid.

Your boots are still there, by the back door

untouched like they’re waiting for a reason.

We eat because we have to, we sleep when we can

we talk less, but not because we’ve run out

Outside, the world carries on, we don’t.

And that’s what hurts, it goes, we stay behind.

There is no long lifetime ahead, my future I dread

I don’t want to be a memory, I want our time back.

I know I can’t, yet where did time go?

What was too far away is now rattling at my gate

Just sit quietly try not to let the inevitable in

not yet,I want to stay on the earth a while longer

I never feared death it was far away,

No I smell it, fear it too. I pray for a lifetime again.
