When Time Felt Eternal

A poem on the passing of time

Remember a time

a life time ago

when time moved slow, almost eternal?

When every second of the ticking hand moved slow?

as it made it's journey around the clock

from five

to ten

to fifteen

the minutes dragged on

it's destination - the next hour

Which felt like a continent away

How we longed to speed up time!

When a whole day seemed to linger from the first break of the rising sun to first sight of the first evening star

You wondered if night would ever come

When a year felt more like a decade,

each holiday's arrival took an eternity

Then one day, its a blur

as if someone hit the fast forward button in life

the seconds

minutes

and hours

it all hurls past us

One second we're basking in summer's warmth,

the next, we're bracing for winter's chill

Instead of rushing time, we long for the days when we felt the ticking time move slow
