I brace as another shockingly sharp flash fills the room, a momentary tear through the skies above before darkness engulfs me.
The heavens rumble as thunder cascades across the clouds, reverberating through my core as I count the seconds tick by.
Petrichor flows through the open window whilst the downpour cleanses the dry earth, washing away its sins.
I pull my blanket tighter, relishing in its soft illusion of protection as I tuck my knees in closer with a hot cup in hand.
Steam billows around my face as the rich, velvety chocolate caresses my tongue, its smoothness seemingly out of place as the electricity in the air peaks and the sky cracks open once more.

Direct, full of expression and warmth. Human fear reminds us of mortality, but everything fades away in a warm chocolate
Oh my, your imageries were so vivid and evocative! Loved your poem!
Wonderful.
A good thunderstorm is always a great sensory experience. Beautiful poem, Sian.
Here's another lovely poem making me yearn for rain. Well done!
Your descriptive voice shines through here. I appreciate the lines about the richness of the beverage and your reaction to the inclement weather. This is great.
