When the Gods of Sea and Wind Come Out to Play
Poetry — Reflections in a Rough Sea
There’s a wicked wind that blows today,
Whipping the waves into a frenzy.
The wrath of Gods about to come,
They are out to play today.
Is it Aegir, the Viking God,
Llyr, the Celtic God of the sea,
Or Poseidon, known as Neptune by some,
That bangs his lightning rod today?
Whichever God, by whatever name,
They just see it as harmless, foolish play,
Who can make the biggest waves,
Who will win the game today?
But wait, maybe it’s not just the Gods of the sea at play,
What does Aeolus, keeper of the winds, have to say?
Is he joining in and causing havoc in another way?
To add his part to this rough sea today.
I think that’s it, it’s all their fault,
Like children out of control,
And has this game just gone too far,
Who will win their game today?
Does it really matter who is to blame?
Enjoy the show they are putting on,
Witness these Gods at play,
As they make the waves rough again today.
