When Roots Touch the Sky
A Haiku Chain on Growth and Connection
Roots keep the footing. Branches do the daring. Together they make the climb less lonely — and more possible. Strength isn’t found in pulling apart, but in growing together.
🌱🌿🌎✨🌳
Young roots grab the Earth
Connected plants in same soil
Trimmed and well anchored
🌱🌿🌎✨🌳
New roots stretch to sky
Their hands reach for door slammed shut.
Pull beyond comfort.
🌳🌤️🌿🌱💫
Roots and branches meet
Pull and reach with combined strength.
Fight to reach and grow.
🌿🌞🌳💪🌱
Roots grow with branches anchor.
Only when melded.
🌳💫🌱🌿🌤️

Nicely penned,
Everything must come together, just as your haikus did, well done
Roots bring nostalgia, sadness and joy. We all pull from experience.
I love how you always start your piece with an introduction. Always so lovely, packed with wisdom, like an open arm with words. 🌳They do look like they are grabbing the earth. An original line drawing our minds to what we've never thought of before. That line already brought this way above the ten mark. I could see their hands reaching. The best choice was to personify —like you did. 🌳Door slammed shut. I do like what you've done here. An expected but surprised line, guiding us into the resilience of the roots and branches. I like that you went with a chain of haiku. It works so very well. Outstanding work as always, Michelle 🤗 ❤️ 🖤
Gorgeous piece, the imagery of roots and branches working together is so powerful.
