When Love Becomes a Shadow

Even the deepest heartbreak can teach a soul to rise again.

By Emma Published 6 months ago 1 min read

I loved you in silence, I loved you in song,

I loved you in moments where time felt so long.

You were my sunrise, my soft morning light,

And also my darkness, my endless night.

I gave you my laughter, I gave you my tears,

I gave you my hopes, my brightest of years.

But love is a fragile, untamable flame,

It burns you with passion, yet leaves you with shame.

You said forever, but forever can lie,

It drifts like a whisper, it fades like a sigh.

You left me with echoes I still can’t erase,

A ghost of your smile, the warmth of your face.

I begged the stars to rewrite my fate,

But even the heavens stayed silent, sedate.

I searched for your shadow in every place,

Yet only my memory carried your trace.

But pain is a teacher, it softens the soul,

It breaks you in pieces, yet makes you whole.

It teaches the heart that it still can survive,

Even when love doesn’t stay alive.

So I’ll walk this road, wounded but free,

With scars as reminders of what used to be.

And maybe one day, the hurt will fade,

Like night giving way to the sun’s new shade.

Because even when love has turned into pain,

Life finds a reason to bloom again.

A broken heart still beats, still tries,

It learns to forgive, to heal, to rise.

So here I stand, no longer the same,

But still unafraid to whisper your name.

For love, though lost, has left behind,

A piece of hope within my mind.
