When Life Hits Different

Nostalgia— Childhood core

By Maryam BatoolPublished about a year ago 1 min read

The first Morning stretch after the best sleep

Life hits different when I go to sleep after I weep

Sitting on the last bench when we secretly ate our snacks

Life hits different when we're cheating and the teacher's at our backs

I love winters only for one reason; that reason is GOAT

Life hits different to find money in the pockets of my old Coat

I didn't do my homework! Shit, tomorrow's Monday

Life hits different to wake up believing it's Monday, but Voilà! It's Sunday

Winter is my nemesis! All night the ticking of all the clocks?

Life hits different when you step in water while wearing socks!

Sometimes I think we should spill out the joke that's caged in our draft

Life hits different when you said a joke unintentionally and everyone laughed!

Although, I don't feel special at home, my siblings treat me like "pity"

Life hits different when a toddler waves at you in public— hehe, Celebrity!

When mom's raging up! No reason, just out of the blue

Life hits different when you know you're next in the queue

I saw a shooting star up high, a dream that touched the blue,

Life hits different, still we rush, when a plane breaks through.

When someone you love; Loves you back

Life hits different when we're on the same track!

When someone you want, wants you in the same space

Life hits different to know they are your safe place

I just want a life where I can steal all the pineapples from the cake,

Life hits different when the ones you love wish you 'happy birthday' for your sake

Life’s too short to dwell on those who’ve hurt,

Life hits different when you find those who truly care and never desert

.

.

Author's Note:

Give me a couplet in the comments, when you feel like "Life hits different" for you!

And that 'Pineapple' part is my love seriously! A poem, A diary, and pineapples... I can live with these forever.

Such a lovely poem with just a hint of whimsy to go along with all those feelings. Very nice!

Wow, this was so relatable and fun to read! I also LOVE the way you wrote it. “Life hits different when you share a laugh with an old friend”

"I hate running, but I always get to simile, Life hits different when I've managed to run that extra mile." Nice job Maryam.

First of all yes, life hits differently when you think you have woke up to Monday and find it is Sunday. I agree with Sk it is deep and humorous at the same time. But I found the photo spooky, has she drowned or just lying there comatose????

Wow! This is both deep and humorous at the same time. Brilliant. Everyone laughed at our spontaneous joke; I also used to skip homework on Sundays. Then either I had to stay up late at night or finish it while sitting in the van, or be ready for punishment. Searching for money in coats or books, or in jars kept in the kitchen, what an adventure! Haha 🤣😂 The first two lines of this poem match your vibes, and the last two lines are equally amazing. Brilliant! ✨🤝👏🙌

Many of them were so relatable and true! My favourite moment was when a toddler waves at you in public, that is so sweet!💕✨

Life hits different (when I read this) Each line brings a sense of nostalgia and authenticity, painting vivid pictures of everyday experiences that resonate deeply.

Oh, this hits so different! ✨ It’s such a cozy blend of life’s little surprises and relatable moments. Love the humor, the warmth, and that subtle nostalgia. And hey, pineapples on cake? 😀 Absolutely! Life really does hit different when it’s the small joys that make it sweet.😍 And pineapples are my love too🤧

  • "Life hits different when a toddler waves at you in public— hehe, Celebrity!" If that happened to me, I'll give it a death glare which I hope translates to "Whatchu lookin at punk??" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 For me, life hits different when mine is over. Come onnnn, you knew that was coming 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Also, what kinda cake is that? A pineapple cake?
