It's Winter
Today I smelled the first fireplace.
You know that smell, it comes every season,
when the tree goes up,
when the wreath is hung,
when the cold hits,
when life becomes chaotic and fun.
--
It's Winter
They say it's the season to be jolly.
See how the mistletoe dangles from the ceiling
above star crossed lover's heads
when the goal is Peace on earth
when the bonfires rages
when family gets together
when we read the nativity stories pages.
--
It's Winter
Children are excited to see Santa
as he asked them what toys they want
when the schools let out
when the malls are busy
when the food is being prepared
When Christmas is in the air.
