When I was a porcelain doll

To S.

imagining all the scars on my body –

those porcelain cracks

you turned me into

never healed, just forgotten

by one of the most humiliating gestures

I have ever made –

the truth I will take to the grave

we – as accomplices in crime

never trusted each other – figuratively fugitives

I can read you like a book

I know all your weaknesses and strengths

though it makes me vulnerable

to your charms

luckily you are far away

untouched by any occasion

for our encounter

why did you ask for a second chance?

saying the reverse version of the truth

did you really think

that I can come back into your arms

without asking why?

stupidest question I know

at least not within your reach
