When I saw you
A poem about rejoicing and affection
When I saw you
~
My eyelashes fluttered off of my face
and joined the soft summer breeze
carrying my breath, or maybe, my words.
And the cocoon cracked across my cheek,
shell sloughing down my neck and leaving
new skin exposed to the elements.
Metamorphosis in a moment, watch her
blossom for the first time as petals peel from
her face, pollen catches across her nose,
leaves flourish underneath her lips.
It is January, but this body is blooming.
It is winter, but this body is becoming
saturated once more with sunshine.
~
And I wipe the fog from the mirror,
And I fall in love for the first time.
