When Dreaming Isn't A Dream
Come On, Wake-up!
I heard a sound outside my window,
I peeked to see what it might be.
There in the mist, I saw them faintly,
a pair of eyes -looking at me.
*
I froze with fright, just stood there plainly,
unable to find the will to move.
I watched in horror, as it got closer,
closing my eyes to disapprove.
*
The air grew thick and still like I was,
a strange new scent hung like a veil.
Darkness began to overwhelm me,
the growls of something, come from hell.
A bead of sweat dripped off my forehead,
I swallowed hard, my throat was dry.
I felt a breath-across my shoulder,
was this the time that I would die?
*
I moved my eyes to glance behind me,
I didn’t want to move an inch.
A shadow moved across my bedroom,
I held my breath and didn’t flinch.
*
A voice like trees swaying, in a rainstorm,
whispering a secret never heard.
Told me of strange things - yet to happen,
although it never spoke a word.
My room was cold, the glass froze over,
my breath was visible to see.
I asked the shadow what he wanted,
why was he in my room with me.
*
He spoke like music, in a rhythm,
I began at once to feel at ease.
When something blew my door wide open,
and what I saw you won’t believe!
I woke and began to look around me,
I was nestled in my covers tight.
I’m not sure if I was dreaming,
I guess I’ll know for sure tonight.
