Whatever it Takes

New Beginnings

Asking yourself why has become your personality

Why did they say that?

Why are they mad?

Why did they leave?

It is quite simple really

They did not want to

Not really anyway

And that makes you mad

You want to sit there and keep asking why

But you will never truly know

All you can do is hope

Hope that it was not something you did

Hope that somewhere deep down they still care

Hope that the true end will be less painful

So you pull the burs from the soles of your shoes

You pull the knives from between your shoulder blades

As you watch that last leaf fall from its tree

And the clouds shed their last tear

It slides down your face

But you are smiling

Because you know

Know that the end is better than the beginning

Know that they will be okay without you there

Know that everything will be alright

For both of you

Because in the end

When one door closes

Another one opens

And sometimes

It is better than before

You just have to trust yourself to see it

Why?

Because that is what you are supposed to do.
