Move Along

Stuck in the Doorway

One foot out the door and another in the threshold

You don’t know whether to stay or go

To be with them or leave them all behind

They told you to leave

They want you to leave

But you cant find the will to move your feet

You know they did not mean it

And so do they

Yet they refuse to acknowledge it

So you stand there in the doorway

And they seem so far off in the distance

Watching and waiting

Waiting to see what you will do

If you’ll continue out the door

Or stay there with them

They secretly want you to choose

But you don’t know what to choose

Because they refuse to choose

To choose them or to choose you

But in the end

You should always pick yourself

Because not everyone else will

And they certainly didn’t

Or else you wouldn’t be standing in the doorway

The indecision coils inside your mind

But you know what you have to do

To say goodbye to something or someone

Be firm for yourself

And know in the end

You allowed yourself to mend and to heal

Because you found the will

You found the courage

You found the strength

To move along.
