What the Kids Need for Health?

Mother and nature

We talk that children

these days,

have depression —

why will they not have?

We expose them

to scented, stifling air,

food full of preservatives,

no emotional support of

hands-on mother,

no nature to explore.

We flood them

with toys of all kinds,

and let them fins dopamine

from teh digital screen,

as if that is safe or enough!

Lukewarm and misguided efforts

bring sloppy results, after all.

I take my two kids

to the jacarandas and sycamores,

to explore under the dappled shade,

to feel the breeze and soak the sunlight,

to play with the pebbles and dirt,

to watch the finches and sparrows,

to drown out their sorrows

and come back home,

body exhausted

but mind refreshed.

Our children are precious wealth

We must do, what's right for their health.
