“We all have addictions to feed” One of my favorite song lyrics of all time this poem captured the meaning behind that line perfectly. Outstanding job 😎
Violence. I like violence. I have a poem in my drafts titled Poison. If I'm not mistaken, it starts with What's your poison but your context and mine so very different. Loved your poem as always!
This is something I’ve been thinking a lot about. I kinda touched on it in “Dark Room” but I have a long history of dating drug/alcohol addicts. My parents were addicts. I struggled with an eating disorder for a long time, which the experts say is like an addiction, and common in people with addicts for parents. I also had an addiction to love and relationships (yeah, it’s an actual thing). But then I was thinking—both my parents were failed artists. My mom wanted to be an author. My dad was a very talented visual artist who never used his talent in a real way. And I was thinking just how common drug and alcohol abuse is in creative people of all types. Artists, writers, musicians, actors. That can’t be coincidence. I developed this whole theory that perhaps we get addicted to artificial highs because we’re meant to experience the real highs of the creative process. Like the real creative process, when you make something you’re SO proud of that other people have no choice but to respect it, but you make it only for yourself, and you put everything you have into it. I haven’t actually done that yet, but I’ve gotten a taste a time or two. I think the trap we fall into is creating for others, or phoning it in sometimes, relying on natural abilities and not challenging ourselves. I know I’ve done that. Usually you give me a lot to think about, but this time it’s like you were inside my head, touching on what I was already contemplating.
Couple two three for me. This is good good, Paul.
Good question! Love themotivational poem!!! ❤️❤️💕
Anything anywhere that helps me forget, That's my poison.
Definitely food for thought! I found myself nodding to a few on the list. Well done, Paul!
I could certainly point out a few of mine in there.
Interesting... And for the record: Books, music Guitar, cellphone Stationery, running Poetry fiction
So many poisons we swallow every day. I wonder how we all are still alive!
IKR...More than I'd like to admit
