What's Shakin'?

Texas, mostly.

What was that Mark posted last night?

Something about feeling earthquakes.

There it is.

Yep, USGS says five point one, near Midland.

Not exactly earthquake country

But hey, they happen everywhere.

Where the heck is Ackerman?

Ahhhh, smack dab in the middle of the oil fields

just like every other place in Texas.

They'll blame this one on fracking...

No, they're saying waste water disposal, maybe.

They're pumping it down into the ground now.

No one wanted more evaporation ponds.

You know, maybe that guy in California was right -

The rock shop owner, yeah,

where I got that cool chunk of selenite.

“We've had so much rain

and now we've got a new rash of quakes.

All that water seeps down to the faults

and lubricates the plates and they slip.”

It didn't sound all that crazy.

Maybe he shoulda' run for Congress.

A "transcript" of my thoughts this morning about a little earthquake close to some good friends who moved a bit south last year. Maybe some food for thought.

For those interested in checking the reports, etc. the name of the town is Ackerly, not Ackerman, but I hadn't had my second cup of coffee when those thoughts were running through my head, so...

Oh - and another entry for the Unhinged - I mean - Unwound - no, Unfiltered, yeah, that's it - Challenge:

Hahahah! I'm sorry but the lines "All that water seeps down to the faults and lubricates the plates and they slip." just made me laugh because people say the funniest things!! 🤦‍♀️

The title and subtitle had me laughing and then chiding myself for laughing because earthquakes are serious matters and then laughing some more at the quips

It's the shifting of responsibilities, indeed. Good job on the Texan accent!!

  • Of all places I have been, strangely Midland, Texas and east, west, north and south of it were part of my fateful travels my first 22 years. Memories in the dust of my mind. Earthquake, huh? They need to be shaken up in my opinion. Wake up Texas! There's a whole dawg gone world to think about.

Love this and the unwound unhinged business....yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah I said to Gina in a comment, the judges are going to have issues reading many entries cos, especially many of mine (including those put forward from before the challenge) lol...cos I and many other it seems, read Stream of Consciousness as "go fucking bananas and just let your mind pour out" lol. I feel like we've all went a bit like that. Even people that are not like me and love structure etc. It's been great haha. Just like this piece. Earthquake in Texas, eh? Love that you included the uncorrected wrong place name too! Very in keeping with the spirit, sir!
